Review: I bought my MALM bed almost two months ago. I was so excited to get it because it looks so nice and it has a lot of storage. Everything was fine the first month, but now, I can barely sleep. I find myself waking up every time I move. This bed simply does not stop creaking... It's VERY LOUD!! I feel bad for my downstairs neighbors because I know they must be suffering too every time I move. I don't know what to do now. It looks so great, but the bed does not serve its purpose, so it's not even worth it. Very disappointed :'(

Review title: The Noisiest Bed Ever

Review: We bought ours last December to upgrade our tween room. This bed looks great, but the amount of scraping and screeching wood noise is unbearable. We just bought more expensive bed base hoping to alleviate very loud noise but nothing changed.
Any amount of movement on this bed produces very loud noise.
After almost 6 months of suffering, we are getting ready to dissemble this bed and return it.
It is a shame. But it is very poorly designed. Be very careful.

Review: We bought a pair of these beds for our teenage kids and they love their bed. The frame is sturdy, which allows for their mattress to lay firm and allow for a good night’s sleep.
The only issue for me personally, was the build. It is only because I have arthritis in my lower back and right knee. The build for the first bed included weird angles, which was tough on my knees and back. I built the second bed on my workbench (not recommended by instructions). The build was easier on my body and was faster. The second bed actually felt sturdier. So there’s that.

Review title: Quality of bed frame is extremely disappointing

Review: We recently purchased the bed. It was super easy to put together. After putting the slated bed frame base and then the bed, we could not help notice how loud a creaky the base is. We purchased the Luroy frame. Is there any way to fix this? I fear that we now have to go to the mattress store to buy a box spring. Our other son has the same bed in full and had no issues with the frame. Really disappointing.

Review: I mean, it is one of the lowest price options for a twin bed with storage, and so enduringly popular you know IKEA had repeatedly value engineered ways to drop the pitch and increase the margin. So. It's fine, sorta, for the price. It is not high quality, it is fine for a cheap bed. It looks alright, it's neutral. It's quite the shin knocker with sharp corners sticking out several inches beyond the mattress. But it has storage that fits flush enough to reduce dust getting in. It's a huge pain to assemble because IKEA has cheapened the fasteners that mate with the cams, using a type that has no screwdriver compatibility. So you have to use the wrench which is roughly die cut from cheap zinc or pot metal or whatever, and the edges of that thing are quite sharp (kiddo cut his hand, I had blisters after assembling two - the thing is too fiddly to wear gloves). IKEA furniture routinely needs to have cams tightened but on this bed, the metal supports block access to the cams. The metal cross piece that stabilizes the frame has the most ridiculous fastening I've ever seen - the way you're supposed to catch two pieces with a tiny screw from above is absurd with such low quality metal. Ours had damaged headboards because it's packaged so poorly. It's on the back but they face the room so it's annoying. However time didn't permit trying to filr a delivery claim or drive to ikea (defeating the purpose of delivery) so there we have it. The bed creaks a lot, I do miss my metal Leirvik bed that this displaced, it didn't creak in 10 years. The MALM bed is definitely not made for anything but sleeping very still. The headboard is two pieces badly held together, they cannot take much leaning before hearing a crack. Fortunately my child is old enough to follow my instruction to not play, run to jump, etc. Finally the drawers are a strange size, so you've got a nice finished look on one side and lots of function, but on the other it's open but you see the backs of the drawers from the other side. If the drawers were just a teeny but shorter a twin bed could accommodate two sets of drawers, keeping cats and dust out while providing boatloads of storage. The support for the drawer bottoms is very flimsy. So you get what you pay for. If you can swing more, go for it. If not, don't expect this to last very long.
