Countertop with a thick oak veneer, a durable natural material that can be sanded and surface treated when required.
For quick installation and easy maintenance the countertop is pre-treated with hard wax oil.
Layer construction adds stability and makes the countertop less sensitive to humidity, thus, less likely to bend, split or crack than solid wood.
The countertop has a full plank design that gives it an authentic plank expression with a genuine wood feeling.
Oak is an exceedingly strong and durable hardwood with a prominent grain. It darkens beautifully with age acquiring a golden-brown undertone.

CareWipe clean with a dry cloth.
Wipe clean with a water dampened soft cloth and a mild non-abrasive dish detergent or soap, if necessary.
To ensure that your countertop ages gracefully, treat it regularly with STOCKARYD wood treatment oil; it gives the surface a beautiful sheen, protects the wood and prolongs the life of the countertop.

Review: Having bought a new (older) home I was in need of more counter space. I had looked at many options, including building my own island, but wandering through IKEA one day, I came across this beauty. It fulfilled my need perfectly—and with style.
And better yet? I had bought a similar, yet smaller butcher block top cart unit similar to this years ago, & they are exactly the same height. So now they stand side by side. The width of the new, is the same exact length of the old, so they stand perpendicular to one another. I couldn't have asked for more!
With both units I got extra counter space, as well as extra storage space.

Review: There was one defect with my Tornviken. Otherwise it is sturdy and should make a great kitchen island for cooking. The piece of trim on the open side was cut short by about an eighth of an inch. There is a visible gap between the piece of trim and the side piece. Everything fit together perfectly so it was odd to have this. No issues with any other pieces of trim.
