Review: Absolutely horrendous countertop you can waste you money on. Mind you if you believe it’s cheap, it’s not. For a small kitchen, I’ve purchased 3 of these and 1 butcher block in walnut. Absolutely ALL have such contrasting shade and impossible to cut straight fir hired professional that the entire project was a waste of time and money. With pro installation the cost is over $2,000 and trust me I should’ve went with literally anything else than this horrid waste. I will provide a picture later I’m just so disappointed in the entire situation I can’t bring myself to even look at the final project. It’s a veneer again; the joint will never look good, the strips included for edges are breaking at the touch. Utter waste of time and energy. Look elsewhere. Not a butcher block. Period.

Review: Wow- I now know ikeas definition for “different” shades. I don’t own a truck, so in order to pickup these countertops I was required to rent one. Upon cutting the countertops I realized I needed 18” more. So I purchase another walnut butcher block, rent a truck again and upon opening the box at home, I now have a oak colored butcher block and a walnut colored-with no way to match unless I trial and error staining now..which was the purpose of buying the walnut shade-so I didn’t have to stain. Long story short, Ikea says I now have to rent another truck and return the block I. Hope that I can exchange it for one that’s the same color. Had I known this was the process- I NEVER would have purchased these here. Save your self so much time, hassle, and awful customer support.

Review: Bought the 74” walnut/veneer to use as a desktop for my home office. Placed it on top of 2 Alex storage cabinets. Despite it being a countertop, the Karlby was finished on all 4 sides which was great (no exposed particle board on any sides on the desk — this isn’t the case for all ikea countertops). It does hang off the Alex cabinets a few inches, but I’m intending to use that space for cord management anyway. The top felt a little gritty so I used Minwax Paste Finishing wax with an old t-shirt. Still feels a tad rough but it’s much better.

Review: I purchased two counter tops with the intention of building an L-Shape desk, and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of these counter tops! Paired with Olov legs, a couple of Alex drawers, and some melding brackets picked up online...the outcome was perfect and the desk is exactly what I was hoping it'd be. Can't go wrong for the price, it feels like it'll withstand the test of time quite well.

Only drawback was availability. I went to 2 Ikea stores in the same day to source all the pieces. Totally worth it.

Review: I love this piece. Very easy to handle, the color is true to it's online description. I put 4 stars just because the piece had 2 indentations but I was able to cut it and I wish that the piece came with more edge laminate pieces

Review: Expected, for the price, this would be solid enough to install hardware to the bottom, but like all the cheaper table tops it's hollow in the middle so screws and such just rip straight out.
