The larger the area, you might want to think about someone to help lay it in place as it really is sticky to grip both floor and carpet.

Review: Bought this to go under a cotton rug on my laminate flooring. Works perfectly. My cotton rug doesn't bunch, slip or have tripping edges.
A little bit of work to get it laid out without wrinkles but worth the effort. I had extra so put a strip under a hall runner. Again perfect. My dogs used to run up and down the hall and scooted the runner all over the place. It has not budged once. Finally, a rug pad that does double duty.
