DJUPARP cover is made of velvet which, through a traditional weaving technique gives the fabric a warm, deep color and a soft surface with a dense pile and light, reflective shine.
The velvet is woven from viscose and polyester, which makes it durable.
The cover is easy to keep clean since it is removable and can be machine washed.

Good to know
The velvet reflects light in a characteristic way which may make the color appear as if it changes.
Small fibers may appear on velvet. It happens naturally and they disappear over time and can also be removed with a lint roller.
Press marks that may appear on the velvet usually disappear in time. With your hand, you can gently stroke in the direction of the pile or use a clothes brush. You can also use the vacuum cleaner with the soft nozzle.

I wish the fabric was nicer and more color options were offered. I bought the beige and it is very light and hard to keep clean. But overall I recommend this chair. Great value for the price.

Review: By IKEA standards $400 is a lot for a chair. Granted this is a large chair. Still, I expected a bit better build quality at that price point. The foam upholstery under the slip covers tears very easy, its like tissue paper. Underneath is plywood, particle board and plywood. On the plus side, it is comfortable and it does look very nice once assembled. Bottom line, I would not buy it again for $400. If it where $100 cheaper, I probably would. For anyone having trouble assembling these, I have a few tips. Do not fully tighten up the base and back pieces in the first step. Just make sure they are aligned properly, and then snug them up a few turns. Then when installing the keyhole bolts in the arms (the bolts that slide into the keyhole slots), do not fully tighten those either. Screw them down hand tight, and then a couple turns with the wrench. Just so that they are snug. If you tighten those bolts down fully, then the arms are very hard to slide into the keyhole slots and very hard to align the bottom bolts. Slide one of the arms into it's keyhole slot, then turn the chair on its side and adjust the arm to line of the 3 bolts on the base. Also make sure it is aligned with the base and back at this time. This should be fairly easy since the keyhole bolt is still loose allowing it to move easier. Once everything is aligned, tighten the 3 bolts on the base down. Do the same thing for the other arm, then go back and tighten the base to backrest bolts fully. Finally, with the chair on its side or back, reach your hand up into the arms from the bottom of the chair, and finish tightening the keyhole bolts on both sides.
