Review: Bought first set 16 years ago then replaced a few 5-6 years ago. LOVE THESE. Perfect look for our old colonial home and kitchen, very comfortable, black finish holds up well, durable solid wood construction. The issue was the joints especially in the corners of the seat.

HAD I BEEN SMART... I'd have put a monthly reminder on my phone to tighten the corner hex screws (and do the table at the same time). They have to be regularly maintained but it's a quick job. If you've lost a part, move the chair to the garage until you fix it because otherwise, you'll destroy it. Sounds like the new design may have addressed some of the issues.

Review: We recently had to purchase a replacement Ingolf chair for 1 of the 4 we purchased years ago. The new Ingolf is not the same quality as the original. They changed the materials for the chair and it is very light, not heavy and sturdy like the old ingolf. The new chair also has slightly different proportions. It is slightly shorter, has added braces for the legs (likely because of the lighter material) and visible screw holes on the sides. Very unhappy with the replacement. Would not buy any more from this product line.

Review: I bought several of these years ago. Solid, sturdy, heavy (but not too heavy), with NO visible hardware. These are a much lighter wood, the cross back needed to be inserted into the framing, and has visible hardware. I can live with them as they will not be seen with the others to compare.

Review: The paint finish on the six gray chairs I purchase was perfect. The pieces fit together very snugly, and the chairs seem to be really well made. The seat of my old chairs had a sort of indentation for your butt. These don't--the seat is flat and uncomfortable--you're literally sitting on a board. You'll need to use thick chair cushions unless you're using them for corporal punishment. The picture-only directions that Ikea gave are mostly useless. There is probably a YouTube video out there, but here are a few suggestions from my trial-and-error assembly experience: Step 2: Insert the bolt and turn it one or two times, just enough for the threads to catch. You'll tighten them up later. Step 3: The pegs on the side braces are two different sizes, thus, the holes on the chair back and front legs are two different sizes to fit the pegs. There is nothing in the directions to indicate this, so be aware. After the first chair, the others took about 25 minutes to assemble.

Review title: Looks Great, but cheaply made and won’t last long

Review: We’ve had four of these chairs now for six years. When we first got them, the seat bases scratched easily. A few weeks later, the paint on the sides and at the top corners chipped off. It’s impossible to find the exact paint or close to the color to try to fill it in. The. A few months go by and now one of the seat bases can almost completely come off. If you look at them from a distance they look decent (now six years old), but up close is a train wreck.
If you’re in the market for cheap chairs that look nice, and plan to replace your chairs every two or three years for the rest of your life, then keep buying these. I just wish they lasted longer than they did. I feel like they started to scratch and fall apart way to early. But then again this is IKEA and almost everything is cheaply made. The only thing I love about these, is a magic eraser cleans these up very nice and easily.

Review: Thus far we have liked these chairs, however after having them for only about 3-4 months the back slat of one of them cracked. So that chair is now useless. I am hoping that the others hold up better. I am thinking or replacing it but leary that I may just have to keep replacing broken chairs and even if I do replace broken chairs they are never available.

Review: I decided to replace all six of my kitchen table chairs since the old ones started to bet wobbly and brake. Since my table is still in good condition there was no need for a whole new set. The INGOLF chairs are the perfect fit and give the kitchen dining area a whole new look for 1/3 of the price of a new set. They are very sturdy, comfortable to sit for hours of eating and conversations with friends. They are also very easy to assemble. Just follow the instructions. I had no problems at all and are very happy with this purchase
